In the early days of the era of blessings, Krealm Skyshadow watched the gods rain gifts upon the peoples of Wayisloth. Even the dark gods blessed their followers. Wanting a blessing of his own, Krealm approached the gods of light and dark. They smiled and reminded him of the bounty he already possessed.
Confused, he asked what they meant. They pointed to his place among the gods.
“Mine is but the smallest seat,” he complained.
“All seats are the same. Yours is simply the newest,” they replied.
Krealm pondered this, then replied, “I am the farthest from Jorde and the least trusted. I have done nothing to earn such disrespect. I ask only for dominion over the snows, the winds, or even the setting sun. I am owed the same respect you give one another.”
“You have that respect. Time will reveal your domains. You must trust the natural order,” they beseeched him.
Krealm stomped off to sulk. He brooded alone for hours in the Garden of Contemplation. As the evening wore on, he realized he was not alone.
“Who is there?” he asked the shadow.
“A friend with a proposition” the shadow said.
“What would you offer me, and what would the price be?” Krealm snapped. “Make it good, or I will learn your name and report you to the guardians of the heavens.”
“You are denied much and punished for another’s sins. Tal’gon the Betrayer held your seat before you. They fear you will follow his path. He nearly succeeded in opening the gateway, and now he is trying again.”
“And what would you ask of me? Shall I descend to Wayisloth to stop him?” Krealm asked.
“No. I want you to help him. His path may reveal the location of the Embers of Jorde. These embers can, in the hands of the righteous, remake the world and reset the domains of the god themselves. Jorde will have to recognize your distinction above others when we possess them. She will see the errors of the past and let us reshape the world and the heavens. The temples were sealed by Jorde and his martyrs when the embers were lost. Tal’gon will get what he wants without having to break the seals and we will get the glory you and I seek.”
“How do I know this is not a setup?” Krealm asked.
The figure, still shrouded in shadows, placed box on the ground where Krealm could see it. Krealm scooped it up and opened the box. Inside was only what could be described a palm sized star. Once his eyes adjusted, Krealm could see it was an amulet shaped like a drop of blood with the fire of star in it. This item is a relic that was until now more a myth than legend even among the gods. The Blood Star of Jorde. Famed relic of healing that marks the bearer as a profit of Jorde.
The Shadow insisted “With that people will know you. They will make you an army. I could only have that if I am among the most trusted of Jorde. I pass it to you.”
“Blessings of Jorde be on us both.” Krealm said.
Placing the amulet around his next, Krealm willed himself down to the surface of Wayisloth. He would start at the Temple of Hevea.
When the shadow was alone, he let out a breath and pulled a sending stone out. He established the connection.
“Tal’gon, Krealm is coming. He will build you an army and help you find the embers.”
“You have done well my son. We shall succeed this time. Please continue to watch the gods for me. We only need a little more time. Tell mother I miss her.”
